5 Bacteria Dangerous For Pregnant Women


Pregnant women are more susceptible to disease and infection by bacteria or viruses. That's because the immune system of a woman was pregnant at the time changes. Exposure to bacteria and viruses can come from anywhere, one of which is food.

5 Bacteria Dangerous for Pregnant Women:

1. Salmonella enteritidis
These bacteria are found in meat and eggs a few types of birds. If not cooked in cooking could cause illnesses.

Symptoms: People who are stricken with this bacterium usually has fever, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. Symptoms often begin 12-72 hours after eating contaminated food or water and lasts four to seven days.

2. Listeria monocytogenes
These bacteria are normally found in soil and water, and can occur in raw meat, vegetables, and unpasteurized milk.

Symptoms: The body would have a high fever, muscle aches, and sometimes nausea or diarrhea. This bacterial infection can take up to three weeks.

3. Escherichia coli
These bacteria are mostly found in meat (especially beef) or the contaminated dirt. Also, the milk unpasteurized (raw) milk and water are less clear.

Symptoms: People who are exposed usually have diarrhea with bleeding, abdominal cramps, and vomiting. Also, low fever or pneumonia.

4. Clostridium botulinum
These bacteria are often found in canned foods with low acid content, such as asparagus, green beans, beets, and corn.

Symptoms: Initially similar to the flu, such as lethargy and weakness and then double or blurred vision, drooping eyelids, slurred speech, difficulty swallowing, and dry mouth. Symptoms usually appear 12 to 36 hours after eating contaminated food.

5. Campylobacter
Mostly found in raw or undercooked poultry. This is because bacteria can grow well at body temperature of birds. Sometimes it is also found in unpasteurized milk.

Symptoms: Initially in the form of diarrhea and vomiting lasting up to 10 days. In people with low immune systems, the bacteria can spread to the blood. Other possible complications include inflammation of the joints.
